ORDERS AGAINST SUN NETWORK & NTV TELUGU NEWS CHANNEL
T-Series once again strikes successfully by acquiring interim injunction orders against Sun Network Ltd and M/s Rachana Television Pvt. Ltd. who owns a 24 hours Telugu news Channel named ‘NTV’ before the honorary Delhi high court for using it’s copyright content illegally.
T-Series takes on seriously on usage of its IPR and inform all those broadcasters who are using its copyright content to make their TV soaps/ reality shows/ etc without paying license fee or for that matter have failed to renew their existing contracts and are still using their repertoire.
While keeping a close check on all the channels, it was found that Chennai based Sun Network and Hyderabad based Telugu news channel NTV were using T-Series’ content without the necessary copyright licenses. Despite bringing these non-permitted usages to the channels notice on various occasions and having acknowledged by their respective heads, they continued with the infringements. Even after sending a draft agreement to NTV, it did not come forward to enter into license agreement and completely denied the usage of T-Series’ copyright content. Moreover it was claimed that the material used by NTV was the work of its creative department. After sending many legal notices to the respective bodies, finally T-Series filed suits for infringements before honorable Delhi high court and subsequent to examining the documents on record and having considered the submissions of learned counsel appearing for it, Honorable Delhi High Court ordered in CS (OS) 1742/2009 that T Series has made out a prima-facia case for the grant of an ad interim ex parte injunction whereas in another case of copyright infringement, honorable Delhi High Court ordered in CS (OS) 1459/2009 I.A.-10152/2009 that southern major SUN Network Ltd would not use the content of any work over which T-Series has copyrights and if the network still wants to carry anything on their channel over which T-Series has copyright, they would seek appropriate license. The matter could have been resolved by paying heed to T-Series’ repeated reminders but such was not the case for most channels.
Divya Khosla Kumar, Creative Director, T Series says, “We have always been a serious player in this industry and to make music work among the masses, it is important that it makes money for the music companies who invest so much on songs and song picturisations. At T-Series, it is always a no-expense spared effort. Hence, we come down strongly on pirates and those violating the copyright laws. The current matter is subjudice and hence we would not be able to comment on it.”

Actor Surya to go on a mission to Moon
In an amazing news to TamilNadu, Indian Space and Research Organization has planned to send actor Surya to moon without any space launchers. This was decided after cheif Scientist Madhavan Nair watched the movie Aadhavan in which the actor managed to jump from the ground to catch a helicopter. Cheif Scientist Madhavan Nair was quoted as “We think it will be wise solution as it reduces all the cost involved due to fuel and construction of space craft. It will also mark India as the first country to produce three living super heros if the mission is successful one. The main mission will be to bring water to Chennai from the moon”.
Surya was very excited about the prospect of flying till the moon. “I dedicate this trip to my daughter Diya” said Surya who is still recovering from his award winning syndrome. Jyothika was also excited.”I thought only I can overact but my husband has proved that he can overact even more than me. This over action by flying till helicopter has won him a trip to moon without space craft which is exciting”.
Kingfisher has decided to sponsor the event. Dr Vijay Mallya was quoted as “I am really excited about this thing. Kingfisher feels immensely proud to sponsor a trip to moon by a man. Surya will be wearing a dress sponsored by Kingfisher. It is same as the Banglore Royal Challengers dress. He will get water from the moon using the Kingfisher mineral water bottle which we provide him”.
Sarath Kumar, the head of Tamil film association said “It is a proud moment for Tamil Film Industry. K.S.Ravikumar should be given noble prize for identifying the talents in Surya. No scientist can find a suitable error free shuttle to moon. A Tamilian has solved all those problem. I am proud to be a Tamilian”.
Vijay TV has acquired the rights to telecast the event live on TV. The show will be hosted by Divyadharshini with Neeya Naana Gopinath and judged by fellow super hero's Vijayakanth and Arjun who have equally excelled in saving our country from foreign intervention. Marks will be given after Surya returns back to earth and based on amount of water he fetches from the moon. If the amount of water that Surya brings is less than the expected level he will not be given the super hero status which both the judges hold currently. Meanwhile Lalit Modi has told that IPL will share the profit with Surya, as Surya will be wearing the dress worn by Banglore Royal Challengers.

2nd wave of Investment Confidence Index by J.P. Morgan Asset Management in association with ValueNotes
2nd wave of Investment Confidence Index by J.P. Morgan Asset Management in association with ValueNotes
- Appetite for investing is back –- Retail Investor confidence continues to be the highest in Chennai
JPMorgan Asset Management India Pvt. Ltd. (JPMAMIPL) in association with ValueNotes today announced findings of the second wave of the Investment Confidence Index (ICI) in India. The J.P. Morgan Asset Management – ValueNotes Investment Confidence Index (ICI), which was launched in August 2009, is published on a quarterly basis. The ICI captures the confidence of retail investors, corporate investors and financial advisors on the Indian economic and investment environment. The findings for this quarters’ survey show that the prospect of a global economic recovery drives confidence across the board, supported by a sustained confidence in the Indian economy.
Chennai’s confidence levels have remained particularly high during the last quarter. Retail investor confidence in Chennai has risen 3.4 points from 160.2 in July 2009 to 163.6 in September 2009; maintaining its position as the most confident city in the country. The city has also seen significant increases in the levels of advisor confidence. Advisor’s expectations of an increase in the level of client investments moved up by 23.4 points from 151.6 points in July 2009 to 175 points in September 2009.
ValueNotes, an independent market research company, was commissioned by J.P. Morgan Asset Management to conduct the survey. The ICI was developed by interviewing a random sample of retail investors (with a wallet size in excess of INR 200,000), corporate investors and financial advisors. The survey took place in September 2009 in eight cities across India: Mumbai, Delhi/NCR, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad.
The key objective of the ICI is to quantify confidence in the investment environment among investors and advisors. The survey also attempts to study investment behaviour and sentiment based on key factors such as the improvement in the Indian and global economic environment, general investment atmosphere, expectation of growth in investment portfolios and others. Additionally, ICI analyses the short term and long term changes in investment behaviour and outlook every quarter, from an investor and advisor standpoint.
The J.P. Morgan Asset Management – Valuenotes Investment Confidence Index score is derived from responses to the following questions posed to all target segments:
1) The likelihood of the Indian economic situation improving from current levels in the next six months.
2) The likelihood of an improvement in the general investment market environment and atmosphere from current levels in the coming six months.
3) The possibility of the global economic environment improving from current levels in the coming six months.
4) The likelihood of the BSE Sensex increasing in the next six months.
5) The prospect of your / your clients’ investment portfolio appreciating in the coming six months.
6) Expected increase or decrease in the amount of investment and/or increase in mutual fund inflows in the coming six months.
Responses to these 6 questions also form the basis for arriving at the Retail Investor Confidence Index, Corporate Confidence Index and the Advisor Confidence Index which are sub-indices of the Investment Confidence Index. At any given point, the indices can move from ‘0’ to ‘200’, with ‘0’ depicting the most negative outlook; ‘200’ depicting full and absolute confidence and ‘100’ showing a neutral position.
Mr. Krishnamurthy Vijayan, Executive Chairman of J.P. Morgan Asset Management said, “The results of the second wave of the investment confidence survey suggest that confidence has picked up across all segments in the financial and investment community. While confidence across all indicators increased in September 2009, the highest increase was recorded in expectations of improvement in the global economy (21.4 points) and increase in the amount of investments (17.2 points). This is a re-affirmation from the investment community that appetite for investing is definitely back.”
Mr. Arun Jethmalani, Managing Director, ValueNotes commented, “The ICI increased 10.5 points to 146.4 in September 2009, reflecting widespread optimism among investors and advisors. Of the three underlying indices, the Advisor Confidence index is the strongest, breaching the ‘150’ mark to reach 151.7. Interestingly, advisor confidence is driven by their expectation of clients increasing investments, even as individual investors and companies are less bullish."
Key findings:
• Advisor confidence has recorded the maximum growth, increasing 15.7 points, followed by corporate (9.0) and retail (6.8). Among advisors, banks continue to be the most confident (157.2) increasing 9.6 points and more importantly, breaching the “150” confidence benchmark.
• Retail investor confidence continues to be the highest in Chennai at 164 increasing four points while Mumbai IFA confidence (153) increases 19 points to overtake Chennai IFAs for the top position. Similarly, retail confidence in Hyderabad continues to be the lowest at 130, despite increasing 32 points and Hyderabad IFA confidence (144), despite increasing by four points, is the lowest among all cities.
• 56% of retail investors expect their income will increase and they will make additional investments over the next six months as compared to 48% in July 2009.
• A majority (50%) of corporate treasuries are of the view that GDP growth meeting/exceeding expectations is the biggest positive economic indicator while there was no clear consensus among investors and advisors. 18% of investors and 30% of advisors consider rise in stock markets and FII inflows, respectively as the most positive indicators.
• Investors (35%) and corporates (48%) consider inflation as the most negative economic indicator in India while advisors (37%) view the high government borrowings / fiscal deficit with concern, in the current scenario.
• Similar to findings observed in July 2009, retail and corporate investors continue to be more confident of portfolio appreciation at 143.4 and 137.5, respectively than they are about increasing investments further at 141.8 and 136.5.
• Advisors now more confident of clients’ increasing investments (167.7) than appreciation in their portfolio 156.9, unlike in July 2009, when they were more confident of portfolio appreciation (146.8) than an increase in investments (132.1). Interestingly, in July 2009 investors were more confident about increasing investments than their advisors. However, interestingly the views have reversed in September 2009.

World's smallest man still 'too young' for title, says Guinness
The 22-inch tall Nepali teenager will have to wait for at least another year to be crowned the world's smallest man, as the Guinness has estimated that he is only 17 years old.
Khagendra Thapa Magar had contacted the Guinness World Records in 2006 through the Dwarf Association of Nepal claiming to be the shortest man in the world.
Magar was just 20 inches tall at that time, a good nine inches shorter than current record holder He Pingping of China. However, he was not 18 and was not given the title.Magar, who has added a couple of inches in the last three years, has now made a fresh claim for recognition by the Guinness as he says he has turned 18.
He hopes to gain worldwide fame as the world's smallest man and wants travel to "Japan, London and America" as well as wed a girl of the same height.
Times Online quoted Magar as saying: "God is great. He made me small in size but has now given me big name. What else could I have asked for.
"Suddenly ridicule has turned into praise. Earlier people used to make fun of me. Now they congratulate me."
"I keep on telling my father to find me a small wife... Now it's up to him to find a right match. I would love to have children but have not yet decided about the numbers," he adds.
However, the Guinness is still unrelenting.Guinness World Records stated on their blog: "We are in possession of Khagendra's birth registration certificate, his certification of citizenship and his identity card. On the Nepali calendar, Khagendra was born on Asoj 18, 2049 which equates to October 4, 1992. This makes him 6,220 days old (as of today, October 15, 2009) or 17 years, 11 days."
The Guinness added: "We are once again in touch with Khangendra and his family and have asked for re-confirmation of his birthday, on the off chance that there has been some misunderstanding. We are very excited to learn of this little Nepalese claimant - and have been for a few years now. But until we can clear up the discrepancy, the holder of the title of world's smallest mobile man remains with He Pingping." (ANI)
